New Parents: My Home Gym Top 5, in Order

This list of 5 is helping my kids to amazing fitness.

This is not intended as a definitive or expert list.

It’s just an attempt to add some stability for a new parent out there who isn’t sure where to start.

Today’s children get less physical activity and less real food than any generation in history.

Schools have steadily been cutting gym class.

Even fast food chains have steadily reduced their play zones.

So first and foremost, this subject starts with the DECISION of the parent to be responsible.

You can’t count on other adults to have your kid’s back.

In fact, other adults are marketing harder than ever to get your kids addicted to fake food and fake life.

But I refuse to accept that other adults will have more power over my kids than I do.

NOT IN MY HOUSE.

And something as simple as GYMNASTIC MATS in the living room can go a long way.

Kids love to move their bodies!

And yeah, I’m living my dream now with my own barn. But even before this, from an apartment, one of the best decisions my wife and I made was NOT putting in adult furniture. We put down mats instead.

Mats are my #1.

From there, I recommend rings (or anything else kids can hang from).

With mats and something to hang from, you may find yourself amazed at how much your kids naturally exercise.

This little boost in physical ability early on could help them stay ahead of life’s traps.

I want to be clear that mats and rings are my essentials. I believe these 2 alone are adequate to consider that I’ve got a “home gym” for my kids.

If you have more room in your budget (which you surely will, if you’re saving money on adult furniture!), foam ramps have been great for us.

These provide uphill, downhill, climbing, jumping and rolling.

Number 4 is a foam balance beam, which adds some footwork and balance. That rounds out my “full body workout system” WITHOUT EVER HAVING TO TELL YOUR KIDS WHAT TO DO.

Number 5 then becomes… A BALL.

Don’t underestimate how much fun kids can have throwing, catching, kicking and DODGING a simple ball.

I leave this as #5 because it opens the door to a wide variety of sports.

Conclusion

This list of 5 is helping my kids to amazing fitness.

They’re happy and healthy, and the items are relatively simple and affordable.

On the subject of REAL FOOD, my best advice is to start gardening, no matter how small! This is a great activity on so many levels.

Recently, I told my son “snack time” and he walked outside, climbed a tree, and started picking fruit!

This really opened my eyes to what a healthy activity gardening can be for kids.

I’m by no means an expert on this yet.

But for now, I’m mentioning it as food for thought, and I will continue on this route of integrating gardening and fruit trees into my kids’ school plan.

I hope this article is useful on your journey.

Yours in Solutions,

Ben

We make $40 rings, which I was already using for my own physical training. The other gymnastic equipment is common on any gymnastic website.
